We couldn’t be more excited to write this job spec. That’s because this role represents a unique opportunity to shape the future of what we hope will become one of the world’s most iconic brands (humble ambitions, we know). If that sounds fun, read on…
The Plum Guide is on a mission to build the definitive collection of the world’s best homes. Through expert human curation and innovative tech, we’re taking a scientific and systematic approach to vetting every home in every city we open, and accepting only the top 1%. Like a modern Michelin Guide - but for homes.
We launched over 3 years ago in London. Since then, we have grown 20% month on month; expanded to 12 cities; tested over 120,000 homes; developed a customer experience that’s returning the highest NPS scores in the hospitality sector; and are on track to reach over £25M in annualised sales.
We are backed by some of the world’s top VCs and angel investors who have built many of the world’s most exciting companies. These include TransferWise, Citymapper, BuzzFeed, Appear Here, Graze, Depop, SoFarSounds, Marvel, GymBox, Threads, Second Home, Zoopla, LoveFilm, Secret Escapes to name a few.
Earlier this year we closed a £14m Series B round of funding. Our focus for the next 12 months is on building an exceptional brand that resonates in the hearts and minds of the Plum Guide customer. This is where you come in.
We're looking for a talented writer who is skilled in producing witty, irreverent copy and content, to join Plum Guide’s brand marketing team. You’ll be in charge of all written content for the brand, across communications, editorial, and even product listings.
This year, we've been working on a rebrand for Plum Guide. One of the most important and distinguishing aspects of this new brand is its tone of voice. Executed well, it's incredibly distinctive; and we believe it has the potential to be the thing that makes us famous. But in order to execute it well, we need someone who can produce sharply funny copy that delivers traction with our sophisticated audience.
You’ll be a talented writer in your own right - bonus points if you’re a burgeoning comedian - but you’ll also bring an understanding for what excellent editorial looks like.
For the right candidate, this is a huge opportunity to make your mark on the growth trajectory of a brand on the cusp of something very exciting - and supercharge your own career trajectory in the process. There is no limit to what you can achieve here at Plum Guide if you’re dedicated and ambitious.
Define and develop a distinct tone of voice that sets the Plum Guide apart.
Be the architect and creative director for all written output of the brand: from codifying unique tone of voice and defining the editorial direction, to actually writing a large chunk of the content yourself.
Source, nurture and manage a network of exceptional copywriting and feature writing talent across multiple languages (our site is currently in 4 languages and soon to be more).
Project manage all content and production from end-to-end: from conception to ‘getting it live’.
Be the purveyor of high standards for all written output and for the tone of voice across every brand touchpoint: from OOH ad creative to the critics' verdicts on our listing pages.
Work closely with our product teams to advise on copy direction for the product pages.
Act as a guardian for the brand and ensure outputs across the business meet our high quality standards.
Work closely with the Head of Brand to develop and define the broader vision and strategy for the Plum Guide brand.
