The Company

The Plum Guide is building a marketplace of the world’s best short-term rental homes.

We are taking a systematic and obsessive approach to testing every single home on the planet, accepting only the top 1%. We do so by putting each home through The Plum Test: a gruelling hospitality exam, which uses a mix of algorithms and physical visits by hospitality experts.

We launched three years ago in London. We are now in 12 cities, we have vetted over 100,000 homes and are on track to reach over £30m in annualised sales. We are backed by an all-star cast investor group including Local Globe (TransferWise, Citymapper), Alex Chesterman (Founder of Zoopla), William Reeve (Founder of Love Film), Alex Saint and Troy Collins (Founders of Secret Escapes) and many more. 

We are at the beginning of our global rollout strategy and growing our exceptional Team and you will play a vital part in this.

The Role

We have an ambitious plan to open 6 new cities in the US in the coming months in addition to LA & New York City which we successfully launched in 2018. We’re looking for an all-start sales specialist who will run LA from our brand new office in New York. A city team is comprised of two people - an Account Executive and an Account Manager. An Account Executive is responsible for finding and adding the best homes in the city that will help us hit our sales targets. And an Account Manager is responsible for the quality of those homes when they’re in the collection. 


The Account Executive position is an extremely dynamic sales role, where you’ll own the new homes and sales numbers for a city. You can expect to:

  • Hit 15 tests passed per week in your city

  • Perfect your Plum pitch to both B2C and B2B prospects

  • On the B2C side, you’ll be pitching to and interviewing prospective individual homeowners who have been nominated to join Plum

  • On the B2B side, you’ll be developing long-term partnerships with the city’s best property managers, aparthotels, and boutique hotels 

  • Ensure all homes added will sell and delight guests, maintaining our high NPS targets

  • Manage the CRM in an organised and detailed way

  • Give partners a great, on-brand first impression of Plum

  • Work with other city teams to leverage partner networks across cities

  • Gather and share insight about your market to work with the city team on hitting sales targets

  • Ensure every test booked has a chance of passing the Plum test and maintain Plum's design and quality standards

  • Ensure all hosts who join Plum are aware of our ways of working and headline terms

Job requirements

About You

  • A salesperson through and through - you live and breathe sales, targets, and numbers

  • Inherently competitive with a drive to succeed

  • Excellent understanding  and use of commercial and brand-led arguments in your sales pitch and negotiations with partners

  • Commercial minded, always thinking about what will have an impact on sales

  • A people-person; you a natural relationship builder who will leave a great impression on hosts

  • Comfortable talking about aspects of design, interiors, travel, etc.

  • An independent self-starter - always looking to contribute without being asked to

  • A problem solver - able to identify blockers or challenges and quickly overcome them

  • A team player who works well with others, shares knowledge, and is able to coach other members


You don’t need to tick every box but we’re looking for people with the following traits: 

  • A few years experience in sales, with at some focus on B2B sales 

  • A demonstrated track record of achieving targets consistently

  • Experience pitching to and negotiating with SMEs is an asset but not required

  • In depth knowledge of LA and its geography 

  • Experience in the hospitality, luxury, or travel sector 

  • Ability to start soon
